Coffee For A Keurig

Five K-Cups

Image via Wikipedia

If you are like me, my first question when we got  our Keurig was about where I could buy those cute little K-Cups.  So below I am posting a list of places to buy.  I have only purchased items from Keurig.com and our local Walmart; but some of these other sites look promising.  Let me know!

  1. Keurig.com: I like their coffee club and while their prices may be ever so slightly more than other sites, they do offer some good perks when you buy in large quantities and with their point system.
  2. Green Mountain Coffee/CafĂ© Express: They do have better prices if you don’t want the rewards options that Keurig offers.
  3. Grove Square: Don’t know much about them so I would love to know if you have ordered from them!
  4. CoffeeGiant: Another site I don’t know much about but they seem to have good prices.
  5. Amazon.com: Last but not least, they do offer cheaper than Keurig and if you’re a Prime Member you get free shipping.

Of course there is your local grocery stores and well known stores such as Macy’s that also sell online and in their stores.

Where you have you gotten the best deal?

Coffee Maker: Pros & Cons of the Traditional

imageNow it’s time to give fair attention to the traditional coffee maker despite my new found love of the Keurig!  So here we go with some pros and cons…

The Pros:

  1. You have a whole pot of coffee if you’re a big drinker in the morning or hosting a group of people.
  2. It’s cheaper.

The Cons:

  1. Messier
  2. Usually end up throwing some away.
  3. Have to have filters on hand!
  4. Only one flavor at a time.
  5. Only does coffee (or hot water for tea).

What are your pros and cons for a traditional pot?

Keurig: The Pros & Cons

imageYesterday I shared with you that we had been given a very fun birthday gift – a Keurig coffee maker – and now today I want to share with you some of the pros & cons of this great little appliance.

The basic overview of this item is that you have the ability to brew only one cup of coffee at a time.  It has turn off/on features just like some of the traditional models, and a water storage tank.

The Pros:

  1. It makes 1 cup at a time making it easy for a quick treat anytime of day or night.
  2. There is a whole lot less mess to take care of.
  3. Can make coffee, tea, hot cocoa quickly and with one machine.
  4. You have the option to still use ground coffee.
  5. Heats the water in just mere seconds.
  6. Gives you the ability to cater to your guests desires – no more 1 pot of caff and 1 pot of decaff!
  7. You and your spouse can have exactly what kind of coffee you want each morning – no debating over what kind to make – you each get your own!
  8. Water tank keeps you from having to fill it with water every time you want a cup.
  9. Save money from making too much coffee and ending up throwing out the unused.
  10. No more filters to deal with.
  11. Every cup is hot and fresh!

The Cons:

  1. Only 1 cup at a time instead of a whole pot.
  2. Slightly more expensive depending on your usage and habits.
  3. Takes up a little more space than the traditional.

Do you have any pros or cons you would like to add to my list?  Share them in my comment section!

Keurig: A Delightful Birthday Gift

Five K-Cups

Image via Wikipedia

My husband and I celebrate our birthdays only two weeks apart and this year my parents gave us a joint birthday gift – a Keurig single serve brewer.

I have known about these delightful appliances for quite some time but never could make sense of it’s worth.  Now only one month later I can sit here and type that not only do I understand the value of of this machine, but I really, really, really like it!

I mean really!

So over the next few days I want to share with you some of the pros and cons for both a Keurig and a traditional coffee maker.

Until then, enjoy a nice warm cup of coffee….

Normal Conversations

Micah: “Mommy, why did God make me different than Abby?”

Mommy: “Because you are a boy and she is a girl.”

Micah: “But God doesn’t hear me when I pray.”

Mommy: “Why do you say that?”

Micah: “Because when I say (*he whispers*) ‘Dear Jesus’ He doesn’t answer.”

Mommy: “That’s because you can’t hear Him talk to you, He has given us the Bible to read so we can know what He wants to say to us.”

Micah: “Mommy why don’t we take pictures of poop?”

Mommy: “Because that is disgusting Micah Matthew!”

Micah: “Mommy, what rhymes with bed?”

Mommy: “Ned.”

Micah: “What rhymes with bus?”

Mommy: “Gus.”

Micah: “Gus Pike rhymes with Bus!”

Mommy: “No.  Just ‘Gus’ rhymes with bus.”

Micah: “I like watching Gus Pike. Gus Pike!  Gus Pike!”

Mommy: “Gus Pike likes Felicity.” (Referring to the Road to Avonlea series we are watching.)

Micah: “Why doesn’t God hear me when I pray ‘Dear Jesus’?”

This is just a normal conversation around here in the trenches of motherhood with a 4-year-old boy!  And yes, this “normal” conversation just took place all the while Micah was sitting on the potty first thing this morning.

It may be a long day here….

A Very Confused Tooth Fairy

imageAbby lost a third tooth on Tuesday night.  But the Tooth fairy failed to come.  Abby blamed it on the snow storm we had and was content to wait yet another night.

Miss Tooth Fairy didn’t show up Wednesday night either!  Abby then sat down and wrote her a note.  However, once again she did not show up!

I know….I know….the Tooth Fairy around here is extremely forgetful!  You don’t have to tell me that!  And it doesn’t help matter that little Miss Abby stays awake until 10pm most nights just reading in her bed or writing out verses.  It kills the poor Tooth Fairy’s bedtime!

So after yet another failed appearance we figured out that perhaps the Tooth Fairy is old and forgetful and possible got confused.  So Abby searched under the living room pillows and low and behold….there was a dollar!

Whew!

The Tooth Fairy was getting quite worried she was going to lose her job! *wink, wink*  At this rate Micah will have to wait weeks to earn his tooth money!
