The Sweet Prayers Of A 7-Year-Old

Some of you may get upset at this post.

I’m just giving you fair warning!

However, the prayers of my sweet daughter, Abby, were just too precious not to share with you.

So if you are offended, I am sorry you feel that way, but I do not purpose this post to be mean, just to share the tender heart of my daughter.

The other day while in the van on our way to some destination Abby pipes up with a random question.

If I didn’t know better I would say random questions are her spiritual gift. 

Anyway!

So we’re driving along passing horses and cute houses and she asks…

“Mommy, does the President love the Lord Jesus Christ?”

I’m feeling convicted just by her tender concern for the man.

“Well Abby, I don’t think he does because he believes some things that go against what the Bible says.”

Her reply was a mix of surprise and sorrow.  “But Mommy!  We HAVE to have a President who loves God!  I wish I was his maid so I could share the gospel with him.”

Again I’m feeling so convicted for my lack of wanting to be in a position to share the grace of God with our Country’s Leader.

“Abby, you may not be his maid but you CAN pray for him.”

“Well I am going to pray for him then!  I’m going to pray that someone will share the gospel with him and that he will love Jesus with all his heart.”

When our conversation was done I had a chuckle over her words – “gospel” at her age just sounds so cute!

So President Obama, just so you know, there is one determined 7-year-old praying for you.  And now a humbled 29-year-old, too.
