Around Christmas of ‘08 I noticed that my beloved Kitchen Aid mixer kept getting really hot and was smoking whenever I kneaded bread.
For a few weeks I was afraid we were going to have to shop the holiday sales to replace what seemed to be my dying one. But then just as sudden as it began, it stopped acting up.
I praised the Lord for allowing my mixer to hang in there just a little bit longer.
Then I noticed that that lower two speeds seemed to not be working. My first clue was whenever I would mix up up flour it flew everywhere. That had never happened before in the life of my 7 year old mixer except for when the speed was too high. I soon realized that, yes, my lower speeds were gone and I could not afford to buy another mixer.
Soooo…..this is when the tea towel came to the rescue.
Whenever I am mixing up some yummy goodies in my kitchen now, you will see my baking partner looking like this:
I drape a tea towel around it and then turn it on and let it do it’s job. And if there is a day I think I don’t need to wrap it with a towel, I un-doubtedly find myself covered in flour.
This is what works for me here in the trenches of motherhood! Why don’t you join me over at We Are That Family for more Works For Me Wednesday Posts! We would enjoy hearing what works for YOU!
